Welcome to my 2018 AIDS Walk Greater Toledo Personal Fundraising page!
Greetings!
Thanks for visiting my 2018 AIDS Walk Greater Toledo Personal Fundraising page. I'm excited to be able to support an effort that does such critical work in our community.
Here are some reasons why it's important to me to participate:
- 3,169 Ohioans were reported living with HIV in 2016.
- Almost 1 in 7 don’t know their HIV status.
- HIV remains the #1 health threat for gay and bisexual men.
- HIV/AIDS is the 8th leading cause of death for those aged 15-34, and 9th for those aged 35-44.
- Thanks to medical advances, if we get HIV-positive individuals quickly diagnosed and into treatment, they have near-normal life expectancy and are far less likely to transmit the virus (up to 96% less likely).
- Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is a new HIV prevention method that is used to help HIV-negative individuals reduce their risk of becoming infected with the virus by taking a once-daily pill.
Equitas Health is at the forefront of providing services to meet the needs of HIV positive individuals in Ohio. Won't you join us in the fight against this disease?
I will be participating in the 2018 AIDS Walk Greater Toledo on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at Ottawa Park in downtown Toledo. You can show your support by joining my team, making a donation on my page or even just showing up to cheer me on. Every step counts!
